NEW
ORLEANS -- In Orleans Parish,
there's a stalemate over testing at a
controversial dump site.
Mayor Ray Nagin ordered a landfill in New Orleans East to close for testing after neighbors protested about possible toxic waste.
WDSU learned that Waste Management is refusing to allow that testing to go forward.A spokesman for Councilwoman Cynthia Willard Lewis said that Waste Management disagrees with the city's testing procedures.
The dump is going to stay closed until further notice.Copyright 2006 by WDSU.com. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
